MEET THE BAND

Ian Anderson- Bass

Born in Kingston, Jamaica in a time when things were very different. Technology was nowhere in sight. Music on the other hand had no boundaries. The sounds of heavy drums and bass resonated through various sound systems on all corners of Jamaican streets and different radios of residents. Music for Ian began in the Apostolic church, where his mother played a major role in directing the church choir.

Despite his origins in gospel music Ian gravitated to music coming from the streets of Kingston. He was fortunate to be able to walk from school each day and have the freedom to investigate his love for the guitar and different sounds that make music so powerful and effective. While growing up in Jamaica his path was piloted to meeting a few influential musicians who gave me the opportunity to understand the value of music.

His association with Earl “Chinna” Smith opened many musical doors and opportunities, to sharing the stage with various international artist like Ras Michael, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott just to name a few. These tours enlightened him to a vast range of musical genres.

"Today I am very thankful for each musical experience and for every opportunity to play with skilled musicians like Bruce, Ej and Cedric. Music the food of life!"
